This book was a page turner! There are some twists that will really surprise you. It would have been nice if it was a little longer . . . but maybe there will be a sequel. : ) |

Excellent memoir about a young girl's survival in Darfur. Very intense and some disturbing images, but interesting account of the violence in Sudan. |

Fatal Illusions by Adam Blumer |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
This was a great book. Blumer is a Michigan author and part of the story takes place at a historic lighthouse on Lake Superior. This a Christian fiction title but it revolves around a serial killer who is after a preacher's daughter. The plot also involves a Harry Houdini wannnabe. I would recommend it. |

Rating: 5 Stars |
Just found the Yada Yada series a few weeks back and have now finished 3 books in the series. I can't remember when I have read anything so uplifting and so full of life along with meaningful lessons. Can't wait to get the rest of the series. |

The Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
A foggy beach in the San Francisco area becomes the backdrop for this missing child mystery. As Abby, a photographer, strolls the beach with the young daughter of her future husband, she is momentarily distracted. In an instant, the child is gone. Throughout the search for the child, Abby is haunted by the final moments on the beach. She replays the scene through her photographers lens and through the snippets of her memory of the day. THE YEAR OF FOG is definitely a page turner depicting mystery, relationships, and true grit. |

I met this lady --- 94 years young --- this summer and subsequently read her book, which is memoir of her childhood in Russia before and after the 1917 revolution, and eventually her life in America. Really makes you appreciate living in America! |

The Lineage of Grace Series by Francine Rivers |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
I have yet to read a Christian Fiction book by Francine Rivers that I wasn't enthralled by. Her books are rich in history and stay as close to the biblical perspective as possible. In the Lineage of Grace series, there are 5 books about the women in the lineage of Christ Jesus. They are in order, by title and who the story is about: UNVEILED: Tamar, UNASHAMED: Rahab, UNSHAKEN: Ruth, UNSPOKEN: Bathsheba, and UNAFRAID: Mary the Mother of Jesus. I highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction. |

Just Beyond the Clouds by Karen Kingsbury |
|
Rating: 4 Stars |
This novel continues on from her current bestseller A THOUSAND TOMORROWS. We pick up where Cody Gunner is trying to put his life back together and gives up the bull rider's life and heads home to his parents and brother. An interesting read that shows how we can find God anywhere and he is always looking out for us. |

The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
This is an oldie but goody. I pulled this off my shelf to reread --- slowly, one day at a time. It reminds me to let go of control and cling to God, who loves me and has a beautiful plan for my life. |

Pardonable Lies by Jacqueline Winspear |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
If you love history and you love mysteries, this is a book for you. It is set in England, during the aftermath of World War I. The main character is Maisie Dobbs, single woman detective. Between the atmosphere of post-war England and Maisie's vulnerability and courage, the book provides lots to think about as well as simply being a good read. |

Hidden History by Melody Carlson |
|
Rating: 4 Stars |
This book is part of the Tales From Grace Chapel Inn series, written by Melody Carlson and other authors. In the first book, three sisters decide to turn their father's home into a B&B after his death. After the first book, the rest of the series can be read in any order. In this book, #4 in the series, the sisters discover their father's journal from when he was a young man and gain insight into his early life. These are small town "cozy" reads, similar to the Mitford, Cape Light, Heavenly Daze series, etc. Good beach or vacation reads. |

For Women Only by Shaunti Feldham |

Rating: 5 Stars |
If you want to learn what husbands really want from their wives, read this book! Shaunti really did her homework, surveying thousands of Christian husbands about romance, love, sex, etc. A real eye-opener, and I've read hundreds of books on marriage, being a good wife, etc. |

Obssessed by Ted Dekker |
|
Rating: 4 Stars |
This had a slow start, but had quite a twister in plots. It's about World War II commandants, and one's means of eradicating Jewish women slowly and meticulously, but getting fooled by a couple of pretty Jewish women. A trap is set by the son of this commandant to catch up to the lies of these women. The plot thickens as the book proceeds. Dekker had some great humor in his story that had me rolling on the floor laughing; it was realistic. He brings out the spiritual life in subtle ways, but they always caught your attention. |
