Last contest period's winner received SEARCHING FOR SPICE by Megan DiMaria

Lee Johnson

A Grace Disguised by Jerry Sittser

Rating: 5 Stars

This is a down-to-earth book about how the soul grows through loss --- and the author makes very clear no one person's loss can be compared to another, which makes his insights relevant to us all. Mr. Sittser has become a friend who has helped me in the midst of deep, bottomless pain. I thank him for publishing this work, born of his own suffering.

ADB

Potluck Club by Linda Evans Shepard

Rating: 4 Stars

This story is about a group of women, both young and old, who pray for each other, but sometimes the "prayer group" turns into a gossip group. This story made me laugh out loud and I highly recomend it! Each chapter begins with a yummy recipe too!

Mary

Frasier Island by Susan Page Davis

Rating: 4 Stars

A great suspense story with just a touch of romance set on a remote island in the Pacific. Navy Ensign Rachel Whitney's new assignment holds more adventure and surprise than she ever imagined. Very enjoyable read; I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

Your God is Too Safe by Mark Buchanan

Rating: 5 Stars

I loved this book and the invitation to leave the borders of the "safe" land to enter into the Holy Wild with God. Mark's ability to invite through the beauty of words is a gift.
This book stirred me to go deeper in.

The Shack by William Young

Rating: 5 Stars

This is one of my all-time favorite books.
Though it is fiction, it tells the story of the great love of God. It invites you to look at the relationship of the Trinity in a different light. I love the truths interwoven into the story that invite you into an intimate, personal relationship with the one who created you and calls you by name.

Searching for Spice by Megan DiMaria

Rating: 5 Stars

In SEARCHING FOR SPICE, Megan DiMaria has hit a home run. You’ll experience a wide range of emotions as you follow Linda and Jerry Revere as they approach their 25th anniversary. Linda is looking for more romance from her husband and thinks that this is the one thing she needs to make her life complete…until curve balls begin to come her way. You’ll find yourself turning the pages of this wonderfully told story as fast as I did; and along the way, you just might feel, as I did, that you’ve found a “sister” in Linda Revere.

Savannah Comes Undone by Denise Hildreth

Rating: 4 Stars

This book is excellent. Not only does it suck you in and you can't put it done, but while you are fully engaged in Savannah's life, you realize things you didn't know about your own.

Dorothy

Hollywood Nobody by Lisa Samson

Rating: 5 Stars

Although written for young adults, this latest offering by a wonderful writer is so very good. Scotty, the main character, lives in an old RV with her mother, who works on movie sets as a food stylist. There is mystery and a very good plot in this wonderfully entertaining novel, the first in a series.

Patty Le Blanc

A Lady of High Regard by Tracie Peterson

Rating: 4 Stars

What a fun book. I really enjoyed it and already have the next one, A LADY OF HIDDEN INTENT, in my to-be-read pile.

Patty Le Blanc

Orchard of Hope by Ann H. Gabhart

Rating: 4 Stars

I just started this book. I read the first installment in the Hollyhill Series already and I look forward to finishing this one as well.

Secrets by Kristen Heitzmann

Rating: 4 Stars

I just finished this book and loved it. I found out as I found this site that there are two sequels following, so now I've got to go get them.

Bookstore Cathy

The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment by Tim Challies

Rating: 4 Stars

This is an excellent treatment of the "skill of thinking biblically about life." The illustrations are fresh and easy to comprehend. The material covered makes you want to dig deeper and read more. The questions at the end of the book are thought provoking, and good for group study. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the book has several typos!

Asha Smith

Lifelines by CJ Lyons

Rating: 5 Stars

Riveting. Heart-pounding. A must read for those who enjoy medical thrillers.

Asha Smith

Dance With Me by Luanne Rice

Rating: 5 Stars

Miss Rice knows how to portray family, its problems and flaws while bringing ultimate healing to all.

Kristen Andrews

Getting to No: How to Break a Stubborn Habit by Erwin W. Lutzer

Rating: 2 Stars

I am currently about half-way through GETTING TO NO: How to Break a Stubborn Habit, and I find it to be very judgmental, as if people can break stubborn habits overnight. Also, I don't "feel the love" from the author, as I have in so many other Christian books I have read. This might be a good book for alcoholics, in a tough-love sort of way, but since I'm not an alcoholic I felt this book provided little support to me and found myself highlighting areas throughout the book that I felt the author was writing in an incompassionate way.

Mara Mittelman (tinybutmightyml@msn.com)

Sincerely, Mayla by Virginia Smith

Rating: 5 Stars

Mayla is every woman in one. Ms. Smith makes God's grace knowingly attainable. With characters that make you want to come back for more, SINCERELY MAYLA, was inviting and inspiring.

Shy Eyes

Bleeding Kansas by Sara Paretsky

Rating: 4 Stars

Very good read! It deals with the battle of Kansas, family feuds, love, life, prophecy, religion, witches and the power of love and faith.

Dorothy

Blue Hole back home by Joy Jordan- Lake

Rating: 5 Stars

This book is excellent. It is reminiscent of TO KILL A MOCKINBIRD and is set in 1979 in the Appalachian mountains. Read this book!!

Deanna K

Some Wildflower in My Heart by Jamie Langston Turner

Rating: 5 Stars

Although this is an older novel, I finished it recently. Excellent character development! The story is written from the point of view of a 50ish woman who does not know the Lord, and is very closed up inside herself because of childhood abuse that she suffered. How a warm, loving and humble Christian woman befriended her and changed her is the story.

AP

The Grand Scheme by Kathy Herman

Rating: 4 Stars

This is the third book in the Phantom Hollows series about Ivy and Rue. It's a good story about how envy can ruin a person's life.

D. Lohrding

The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word by Joyce Meyer

Rating: 5 Stars

Literally, speaking to God helps you hear from God. The book is full of quotes from the Bible for various challenges in day-to-day life.

Maria S.

Scrap Everything by Leslie Gould

Rating: 5 Stars

Great read! A wonderful story of how God brings women together and of how we need really close friendships. A loving story of giving of love and life itself. (Loved the scrapbooking storyline, too.) The book also shows how hard it can be on military families to be apart.

The Parting by Beverly Lewis

Rating: 5 Stars

Beverly Lewis is my favorite author. All of her books are 5 stars. I have never read one that I didn't absolutely love!!!
