I have recently learned of this author because I am a big reader of Beverly Lewis's books. I love to ready books about the Amish and Mennonites.

This is the second book of her Sommerfield Trilogy. This has been a great series.

The third in Sharon's Sword of Lyric Trilogy is just as good as the first two --- you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Home to Holly Springs by Jan Karon

Rating: 4 Stars

It was difficult to read at first, as it goes from when Father Tim was a young boy to current time. We learn much about Father Tim and how he became a clergyman, his friends and family who helped shape who he is today. Very good read.

Grace In Thine Eyes by Liz Curtis Higgs

Rating: 5 Stars

Another wonderful book from Liz Curtis Higgs! If you haven't read her stories, you are missing great historical fiction. I feel like I am transported back in time to Scotland with each book. This one is based on the story of Dinah in Genesis 34. I couldn't put this one down. Many late nights!

Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah

Rating: 5 Stars

I loved this book, and had tears streaming down my face at the end. It's about two girls and their 30+ year friendship through careers, motherhood, cancer, and death. This is a read for anyone who has had a best friend through thick and thin. It left me wanting more.

When the Game Is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box by John Ortberg

Rating: 5 Stars

Using lots of stories, Mr. Ortberg helps Christians "play the game of life". This is an easy read without having to plow through a lot of doctrine or theology. The author teaches a lot of simple principles that we all need to know and use in our everyday lives.

Jennifer

The Preacher's Daughter by Beverly Lewis

Rating: 5 Stars

The first book in the Annie's People series really intriqued me. As an avid reader of Beverly Lewis's books, this was quite different.

Lewis's books are all about the Amish --- or Plain --- people, including their wide culture and beliefs. But, in this series, a few Englishers --- non-Amish people --- appear.

THE PREACHER'S DAUGHTER is hard to put down. It is easy to relate to Annie's struggles, even if one isn't Amish. The battle between "Should I do this?" and "Should I do that?" is found throughout the book, and it really makes one think about right from wrong.

I am currently on the second book THE ENGLISHER . I will say the series is fairly easy to figure out, but enjoyable all the same. A very fun yet educational piece of work.

Mags

Petticoat Ranch by Mary Connealy

Rating: 5 Stars

Attention Michael Landon Jr.! This story by new author Mary Connealy would make a great TV movie! It is a funny, well-written story about a woman and her four young daughters who have learned to survive alone in the wild west. With their safety at risk, the heroine, Sophie, breathes the prayer, "Help me", and God sends exactly who and what she needs!
