The authors made a mistake on page 326 where Bingman's death is discussed. However, Bingman lived through the earthquake on page 311.

Delightful coincidences form this account of the storyteller's experiences when he retires "back home." Maybe his life is not over after all.

Across The High Lonesome by James McNay Brumfield |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
I picked up this book after seeing someone recommend it on here. A great slice-of-life read about the high mountain cowboys --- Packers --- that work in the mountain wilderness of California. The book follows a summer in the mountains; the central character being the green horn, Molly Mendoza, who ends up in the mountains after catching her future husband in bed with her best friend. The surrounding cast of characters jump off the page, and there is plenty of action and adventure. This one made me smile and even cry a couple times. Wonderful read!

Beyond the Biography of Jesus by Alexander J. Shaia |
|
Rating: 5 Stars |
The Gospels are not just the biography of Jesus? The discrepancies in them were done purposely? You've got my attention! This book is a brilliant, new revelation of why the Gospels were written and how they provide the tools for living life fully today, as God intends us to do. The author's insights and lyrical writing style kept me turning the pages hungrily for more. I now anxiously await publication of Book II of the series.

A story about a foster child who wants to meet his father, a football player. A quick story that read like an adult fairy tale. I recommend borrowing it from the library if you want a feel-good story.
