Whence Came a Prince by Liz Curtis Higgs
Rating: 5 Stars
I'm the pickiest of readers, and Liz comes out on top with this latest novel in her Scottish history series. It's positively glorious, with the grace of Christ shining through every page. Thanks, Liz!

Jesus Alive! Elvis Still Dead by John Deem
Rating: 5 Stars
This wonderful book tells 26 stories from the Bible as they might have been reported in a supermarket tabloid --- complete with screaming headlines, including the one that became the book's title. What a unique and clever way to deliver the "Good News." The headlines and the stories are sometimes hilarious, but the "Getting Real" sections challenged me as much as they seem to have challenged the author. I loved it!

The Meeting of Anni Adams: The Butterfly of Luxem by Lonnie D. Story
Rating: 5 Stars
After having the time to read and reread this remarkable work, I am amazed that Mr. Story is a first-time writer. I came across this book from an article written about it (Mrs. Adams and Mr. Story) in the Florida Catholic Newspaper. While the book is "self-published" (not for long I believe), it is definitely of much higher value than the stream of traditional work I review on the market at present.

Although the book has typos and some re-edit work is needed, these should not detract from the overall theme, work, and glorious story of an astonishing life of a superb lady developed from childhood. Many young ladies around the world, as well as forthcoming generations, could use some lessons from this book, especially the historical aspects. In fact, I don't find much that anyone couldn't take profit from in reading this book. I give kudos to Mr. Story, and he definitely --- though in need of minor tuning --- has the ability to bring words to life and life to words in a picturesque mental format. I believe somewhere therein lies a poet. For a first outing, I am sure that his future is bright in the literary arts.

That is not to take away from the subject of the biography. In fact, I found it almost difficult to call it a biography because it transcends the boundaries of the archetypical format. Instead, it comes straight from the heart to the page, and then to one's own heart. This is definitely a good read and is deserving of much, much higher attention against the general populous of uninteresting traditionally published books crowding the shelves.

The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom
Rating: 5 Stars
A great book that is very fast paced and easy to read. Highly recommended.

Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt by Anne Rice
Rating: 4 Stars
This is a good change from her previous books; I'm still reading it so the stars aren't final!

Christine Dillard
The 2-Second Commute: Join the Exploding Ranks of by Christine Durst and Michael Haaren
Rating: 5 Stars
When I read John Tesh's endorsement of this book, I bought a copy immediately.

As a mother who has elected to stay home with my children rather than leave them to go to work every day, I found balance in this book. Balance for my family, my values, and our budget.

The authors taught me how to build a home-based business as a Virtual Assistant that stems from the needs and values of my family. Their Values & Vision Pyramid exercise designed for couples was invaluable. My husband and I completed the pyramid, created our "Family Vision Plan", assessed our "Values Gaps", and created a plan for closing those gaps by living our values.

Highly recommended to those who would like to work from home, but the "Spouse With a Mouse" chapter is great for every family/couple --- business or not.

The Bible by God
Rating: 5 Stars
Actually, the stars don't end on this one. Since I have no time in my life right now to read any other book, I just stick with THE BOOK. It's better than any other, and its words are LIVING, ACTIVE and SHARPER than any two-edged sword.

One Tuesday Morning and Beyond Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury
Rating: 5 Stars
These books are very good and make you think about just how quickly we can pass from this life, and where your heart is with God. We always need to be ready because we don't know when God will call us home.

Over the Waters by Deborah Raney
Rating: 5 Stars
Once again, Deb has woven setting, characters, and a story that will live in the reader's heart after the last sentence. Readers will have a glimpse of an orphanage in a torn country, and passionate caring people who work there. This is a great read.

Nikki Fannin
London Refrain by Bodie and Brock Thoene
Rating: 4 Stars
This is a director's cut of one of the authors' earliest books, THE TWILIGHT OF COURAGE. It was nostalgic to read about characters who appeared in the earliest of their books, and finding out what happened to some we never followed. The Thoenes write accurate and well-researched historical fiction and all their books deserve at least four stars. You feel like the characters are almost family members because they always seem to be tied in from book to book. Well done!
