Definitely the best book I ever read: Dawn Ringling's Jumping in Sunset. 5 stars!! If there were ten, I'd give them all.

Fiction:
Sutter's Cross by W. Dale Cramer. 4 stars.
Sutter's Cross is a small southern town where everybody's pretty happy with the status quo -- until Harley arrives in tattered clothes and with a shrouded past. It's Cramer's first, but he produces masterful characterization and an intriguing storyline.
Bad Ground by W. Dale Cramer. 5 stars.
Better than his first, this story has a young protagonist coming of age because he's forced into it.
The Dead Don't Dance by Charles Martin. 5 stars.
Another superb debut novel. Martin has created an authentic sense of place, authentic southern characters and an authentic story of one man's struggle with his faith.
Nonfiction:
Surprised by God by Stephen Arterburn. 5 stars.
Arterburn's autobiographical book is compelling and gives the reader a lot of insight into his call into Christian counseling.
Once Upon a Tree by Calvin Miller. 4 stars.
Miller reveals how we have trivialized the Cross, but if our faith is to be real, we must return to the point at which we recognize the Cross as the centerpiece of our faith and of civilization.

The Deceiver by Frederick Forsyth. 5 stars.
Since this is a non-Christian thriller, I would only read any of his in a Reader's Digest condensed book form. My husband really enjoyed this book, and he doesn't read that many.
The Aviator by Ernest K. Gann. 3 1/2 stars.
Another Reader's Digest condensed book.
Alaska by James A. Michener. 3 1/2 stars.
Yet another Reader's Digest condensed book. Very slow and dry for the first half.
The Return of Mr. Campion, short stories by Margery Allingham. 4 stars.
Ms. Allingham wrote mysteries back during the same time that Agatha Christie wrote hers and was highly rated by the literary experts. I think I still like Agatha Christie's books better.
My husband and I have reservations for two weeks in Leavenworth, Washington in a very nice RV park there starting mid-September. We have been reading the "Left Behind" series aloud on these annual vacations. This time it's to be Glorious Appearing by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. We can't wait! All of the other books in this series would easily be rated a 5 in our opinion.

The Sister Circle by Vonette Bright and Nancy Moser. 5 stars.
I laughed the whole way through the book!
Consuming Fire by Kathleen Morgan. 3 stars.
I'm not big into Scotland and I didn't really understand a lot of the politics involved.
True Courage by Dee Henderson 4 stars.
I didn't understand a lot of the military jargon involved.
Bad Ground by W. Dale Cramer. 5 stars.
It took me a while to warm up to the book, but I loved it as much as his first.
Tying the Knot by Susan May Warren. 5 stars.
So funny!
The Brother's Keeper by Tracy Goot. 4 stars.
A really good book about the time of Christ, I could hardly put it down.
Lullaby by Jane Orcutt 5 stars.
Do you want to cry over a short little harmless looking book? This would be your chance.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. 5 stars.
Fascinating book on having one child to save another child's life. This author always makes me think about topics I never would have otherwise. She makes me feel as if I am each of the characters. I feel their pain.
A Season of Grace by Bette Nordberg. 3 stars.
I did not know much about AIDS and how it can affect a family. This was a good read.
Hidden Places by Lynn Austin. 4 stars.
An easy read about quirky characters and how we learn a family can be whoever bonds together and follows God's calling.
Return by Karen Kingsbury, with Gary Smalley. 2 stars.
This was okay. I did not enjoy as much as the other two books.
Remember by Karen Kingsbury, with Gary Smalley. 4 stars.
I enjoyed Ashley and learning about her pain and Alzheimer's patients and loving them where they are in their world and not trying to make them live in the present.
The Things We Do for Love by Kristin Hannah. 3 stars.
A fast paced love story with a likeable family.

The School of Dying Graces by Dr. Richard Felix
I purchased The School of Dying Graces last week and couldn't put it down. The book is both uplifting and emotionally challenging, often at the same time. I passed my copy on to others who have had similar reactions. Be prepared to cry a lot. I think this may be a Christian equivalent of Tuesdays With Morrie.

A Rush of Wings by Kristen Heitzmann is a wonderful book. 4 stars.

Time Lottery by Nancy Moser. 4.75 stars.
What a fantastic book! I couldn't put it down.
What would you do if given the chance to go back into your past, change one of your mistakes, and then decide whether to stay in your past and continue on or to come back and carry on with your present life? This is what this book was about. Three winners were chosen for the Time Lottery. Scientists had found a way for these people to skip over to their memories, and change something from their past. At the end of a week, they'd be given a serum that allows them a "Dual Consciousness" --- they can see both their present life, and the one they went to change --- and they can decide which one to stay with. If they choose to stay in the past, their body in the present dies. If they come back, the body in the past continues on.
Awesome book, and I'm adding it to my list of books that I will just HAVE to discuss with my book club.

Boo Who by Rene Gutteridge. 5 stars.
A wonderful book!! This is the sequel to Boo. The characters are quirky and loveable with comical dialogue. I know a book is great when it makes me sad to read the last page.
Under God by Toby Mac and Michael Tait. 5 stars.
Mesmerizing! Powerful historical tidbits that show the sacrifice our forefathers went through for religious freedom.
She's Out of Control by Kristen Billerbeck. 5 stars.
I'm reading this for the 2nd time. I rarely read a book twice, but this is one of my all-time favorite series. Chick Lit at its best!
Savannah from Savannah by Denise Hildreth. 5 stars.
A new author who has written a story that is endearing and thought provoking. Read it. Not only will you enjoy it, you just might see your own mother a little differently. Can't wait to read her next book.
